About
Nicola Holden is a Professor of Food Safety at SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College). She works mainly on the transmission of pathogenic bacteria in the wider environment. STEC are a major focus of the work, understanding how they colonise alternative hosts like plants, so that suitable mitigation measures can be identified to help in farm management, as well helping with finding appropriate diagnostic systems. Nicola also runs the SRUC Food Security challenge centre, and holds a policy fellowship with the Scottish Government, building a OH pathogen register for Scotland.
